2008 Award Winners Announced

The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 Small Business of the Year and 2008 Organization of the Year. A committee of past award recipients and community leaders made the selections.

Dave Kaufman Realty has been chosen as the 2008 Small Business of the Year. Tuscarawas Chamber President, Jill McCartney, comments “Dave Kaufman Realty has been conducting business in our area since 1971 and has worked hard to establish a company known for honesty and integrity.  The staff of Dave Kaufman Realty participates in many community based activities as well as the charity auctions performed each year. “Over the years, our growth has been due in large part to our opportunity to work with excellent clients in an environment that fosters auctions. We have also been fortunate to work with colleagues in our industry, as well as adjacent industries that understand the process and have been willing to assist in whatever means possible. Be it attorneys, title companies, banks, surveyors, accountants, realtors or other professionals our area is blessed to have upstanding and ethical people to work with. Our growth has been more about the people we’ve been surrounded with and our community that with us,” stated Dave Kaufman.

Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross has been selected as the 2008 Organization of the Year. “Since 1917 the Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross has grown to serve over 125,000 residents of Carroll, Harrison and Tuscarawas Counties. Over the past several years the Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross has increased their presence with the youth in area and has reached over 3,000 students helping to build a safer school and home environment. McCartney stated, “The Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross is an asset to our community in so many ways; teaching CPR, swimming lessons, babysitting classes and assisting during emergencies just to name a few.”  Chad Conrad, Executive Director of the Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross stated, “As a community partner of Tuscarawas County, it is a pleasure and honor to be selected with such a designation. We give all the thanks to the community for supporting the Red Cross. Without the dedication of local benefactors and volunteers, we could not serve others in the county as we currently do. Whether it’s a home fire, cpr class, youth education course or emergency military communication, our volunteers are there when help is needed.”

The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors would like to congratulate Dave Kaufman Realty as the 2008 Tuscarawas County Small Business of the Year and Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross as the 2008 Tuscarawas County Organization of the Year.
