Tuscarawas County named Micropolitan Area

Tuscarawas County has been named number fourteen in Economic Development in the U.S. out of nearly 700 micropolitan areas designated by the U.S. Census Bureau.

According to the Bureau, a micro area is a largely rural economy that includes a city of at least 10,000 people but less than 50,000 and covers at least one county.  Of the 3,141 counties in the U.S., 694 are classified as micro areas and account for about 10 percent of America's population.

The projects which helped Tuscarawas County to achieve that status are:  the new Olympic Steel Service Center (www.olysteel.com) in Dover, the new Kimble Manufacturing (www.kimblemixer.com) headquarters in New Philadelphia, the new Complete Hydraulic Services (www.ohiomachinery.com/hydraulic/chs.html) headquarters in Lawrence Township, and the new Plymouth Foam (www.plymouthfoam.com) in Gnadenhutten.

Clearly the Tuscarawas County Commissioners, the leaders in the municipalities, and the Economic Development organizations "Get It".  They understand business, how to attract new business and how to retain existing business in Tuscarawas County.
